The BMW Z1 was the first experimental roadster developed in BMW Technik GmbH (launched in 1985). This project was intended to develop and test innovative materials, bodywork parts, and highlight opportunities for optimizing development processes. The Z1 equipped with body made of special elastic plastics that are not sensitive to damage, vertical sliding doors and has a very good dynamic properties on the road - it was very successful for BMW Technik factory in Munich.
