The BMW 2000CS is the first luxury coupe of the BMW "New Class" cars, it is a "transition" model between
BMW 503,
BMW 3200CS cars and
BMW 3.0CS coupe, introduced in 1970s. The 2000CS had its own platform, engine, interior and bodywork, designed especially for this model.
The 2000CS was designed by Wilhelm Hofmeister and built by Karmann. This car were the first BMWs to feature the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine made legendary in the BMW 2002. The BMW 2000C model had one carburetor, 100 hp and offered with an automatic or manual transmission. 2000CS models had dual carburetors and came with a 4-speed transmission and had 120 hp.
